The Education Foundation of the West Ada School District has a long and rich tradition of supporting the West Ada School District through its grants program. Over the years, we have expanded our programs to include the Thank a Teacher program, music and arts grants and funding for the basic needs of our students (Bridging the Gap). We have an Innovative Grant program that allows our teachers to try new and innovative ideas in their classrooms. None of these activities would have been possible without the support of our distinguished board of directors.
Our mission is to provide supplemental funding and support for educational programs and projects in classroom innovation for the benefit of students in the West Ada School District.
Our vision is to enhance educational opportunities and provide a foundation for future success for all students in the West Ada School District.
During its tour, the Big Idaho Potato Truck Team identifies non-profits in the markets we visit and offer to serve up “A Big Helping”. This means helping raise awareness, funds, food…or all three!
The Big Idaho Potato Truck travels each year on a cross-country journey! It began in 2012 as a one-year campaign to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of the Idaho Potato Commission. It quickly became apparent that one year wasn’t going to be enough and it was it was literally on the road to becoming a big piece of pop-culture. It travels the country promoting the certified heart-healthy Idaho Potato and is on a mission to help small charities in towns and cities with the A Big Helping program.
Established in 1937, the Idaho Potato Commission (IPC) is a state agency that is responsible for promoting and protecting the famous “Grown in Idaho®” seal, a federally registered trademark that assures consumers they are purchasing genuine, top-quality Idaho® potatoes. Idaho’s ideal growing conditions, including rich, volcanic soil, climate and irrigation differentiate Idaho® potatoes from potatoes grown in other states.
