A Jammed Packed Adventure!

0031

This past weeks were jammed packed with potato fun! We had a multiple events in Idaho, attended a Pioneer Day Parade in Ogden, filmed our  national commercial, and participated in the 69th annual torchlight parade in Seattle Washington!

First off, we celebrated Idaho products at the Walmart in Nampa, Idaho! They had free huckleberry ice-cream, hot dogs, and Idaho spud bars all from Idaho! We had an amazing time showing off our Idaho spud to fellow Idahoans! The next day we trucked  off to Ogden, Utah for the Pioneer Day Parade. The streets were lined with wagons pulled by horses and floats celebrating Pioneer day! It was a great parade and the Tater Team passed out plush Spuddy Buddies and Idahoan mashed potatoes to lucky specTATERS!  In addition, we had super fan, Shaun, from Provo drive to Ogden just to see the Big Idaho Potato truck! He says he loves everything about potatoes and that eating potatoes has improved his health and makes him feel more energized. He has been trying to catch up with the truck for a year and he was so happy to finally see it in person. We made sure to give him plenty of potato truck swag and Idahoan mashed potatoes to take home!

After that we headed back to Boise and attended the Potato Association of America meeting and dinner gala. We parked the truck in front of the JUMP Boise center so Potato Association Members could take photos with our truck! Boise locals gathered around to see our new 4-ton tuber! The Tater team passed out post cards and Idaho potato pins to visitors! The following day the team went to the shoot for the upcoming commercial! It was really interesting seeing the behind the scenes of a commercial! The Tater Team was also able to meet Farmer Mark and his trusty bloodhound! The production team shot some scenes of the truck driving by and Farmer Mark chasing after our spud!

Luckily we escaped Farmer Mark once again and we were able to make our way up to Seattle for Seafair and the Torchlight parade. We picked up a special guest to ride along with us in the truck and see what it really takes to be a Tater Team member. Bill Manny from the Idaho Statesman shadowed the team and observed on the behind the scences of the tour! We really enjoyed having him along for the ride and can’t wait to see his article!

Seafair and Torchlight were a success and there was a large fan turnout! Peggy Grover from the Idaho Potato Commission joined us with her granddaughter Miley! Peggy and Miley worked with the tater team during their event and spread potato joy! The team even had a dance and karaoke competition where fans could win T-shirts and Spuddy Buddies! After the fan fair the team prepared the truck  for the torchlight parade! We put flashing lights on the truck and gave everyone glow sticks so we could illuminate the streets of Seattle! Kaylee’s family also joined us for the parade so we had a full crew walking in the parade! The truck was a hit at Torchlight and we made the live coverage on TV!

Were now crossing the country to make our way to the Pro Football Hall of Fame parade in Canton, Ohio. Were excited to be out on the open road once again and finish of the tour in a BIG WAY! The Tater Team has some new ideas that they can’t wait to share! Make sure to check up on our pages to follow our adventure!
