We cooked up some fun this week at the 2018 World Food Championships !This event is a cooking competition and chefs from all over the world came to Orange beach to battle it out for the championship title and $10,000! There were 10 categories total including steak, seafood, desserts and chili! The Idaho® Potato Commission was a sponsor during the championship and contestants were required to use Idaho® Potatoes during the top 40 chili competition! Ron and Kaylee were the judges for the top 10 and got to decided who won the chili champion title and prize money! The Tater Team and Spuddy Buddy enjoyed meeting chefs from all over the world we even met celebrity chef Jay Ducote and former NFL player Jarvis Green!
It was a foodie’s dream at the World Food Championship! They had delicious samples and cooking demos throughout the entire venue! They had a BBQ beach where chefs grilled up various dishes using Kamado Joe ceramic grills! There was also samples from Walmart at the Walmart tasting pavilion! In addition they had food demos from World food chefs at the Maximus food stage and in the Walmart VIP tent! The tater team had so much fun cheering on the chefs during the contest! The competition heated up and the chefs cooked up some mouth watering dishes! During the Chili competition Spuddy Buddy cheered on the competitors and spread potato joy! The Chili competition was spudtacular and the chefs got very creative with their use of Idaho® Potatoes. Some chefs paired their chili with french fries, mashed potatoes, gnocchi and even potato pancakes! The chefs really thought out of the box and made delicious chili recipes!
This event was perfect for our potato truck and everyone was so excited to see our 4-ton spud! Chefs and foodies posed with our spud and we met so many awesome people! We also had a special interview with the media partner Kitchen Ambush! Mark Conway joined us on top of our spud and we threw prizes down to a crowd below! It was such a interview and we had a great time with the team at Kitchen Ambush!
After a frytastic week at the World Food Championship we’re heading back to our Idahome where we will be until the start of our 2019 tour! This years tour has been such a wonderful adventure!! We met so many nice people this year and went to so many memorable events! The tour just keeps getting bigger and better and we can’t wait for what is in store for the future! Kaylee and I are so excited to be signed on for the 2019 tour and we are already thinking of ideas for next year! We feel so lucky to be brand ambassadors for the Big Idaho Potato truck and we cherish the experience we have had this year!
