This week was another one for the books! We started our week off in Houston, Texas and made our way to sunny Florida for a visit to Hurlburt Field Air Force Base. When we arrived to the base, we were greeted by two classes of kindergardeners eager to see the six-ton potato. They were so excited when we arrived and couldn’t wait to run up and touch the potato. After the initial excitement, we explained to the children how potatoes are part of a healthy lifestyle and played some fun games. Spuddy Buddy even came out to say hello! The kids absolutely loved it!

After the children went back to school, Zach, the produce manager of the commissary, gave us a tour of the store and showed us their display for Idaho Potato Lover’s month. Spuddy Buddy even went shopping and met the other staff!

After a great day at Hurlburt Field, the potato headed for Panama City an hour and a half away where we enjoyed a day off at the beach! Life is pretty rough on tour across America.

The next day we made our way to Sarasota, Florida for the Good Samaritan Pharmacy fundraiser. This non-profit provides free medical services and prescriptions to the uninsured in Sarasota County. They provide over 1400+ people with medical care each year all thanks to volunteers and donations. They were so excited that we came, and we were able to bring awareness and raise over $800 for their cause (combined with their raffle and our signature board). Due to volunteered time, they can turn $1 into $40 of medical care. The money we helped raise equated to over $30,000 worth of medical services! It was crazy to think how many people we could touch because of this event.

After an amazing event, we spent the next day biking around Venice, Florida and relaxing at the beach. Although we work hard, we definitely play hard too. We are having the time of our lives!

Until next time tater nation!
