This week we brought our Supersized Spud to Salem, Ohio for Salem Super Cruise! This is an annual car show that brings the car community together for a good cause! Participants and locals raise money for the Columbiana County Food Pantries! Our potato attracted a lot of Spec-taters during the 4-day car show! We were the talk of the town and we had a lot of media coverage throughout the festival! Upon our arrival, we were interviewed by Mary, from the Salem Newspaper! We were also featured on WFMJ Channel 21 News! Additionally, the #TaterTwins were interviewed by “Car Care” on iheart radio!
Salem locals, Super Cruise participants, and event volunteers were so excited to have the Big Idaho Potato Truck at Super Cruise! Gene, the event coordinator, had been trying to get our spud at the car show for three years, so they were very excited to have our truck there! The Salem Super Cruise attracts vehicles from all over America! The Tater Team had a great time looking at the different cars, trucks and motorcycles at the show! There was a variety of different vehicles, new and vintage! The Tater Team had the privilege of passing out the trophies to the car show winners! We even did a FB Live before the award ceremony with the “Best in Show” winner Ted, who had 1955 Chrysler with a beautiful red and white paint job. It was a classic car and I must say the Tater Team has great taste!
In addition to cars, there were many other attractions at the Salem Super Cruise! There were various food and merchandize vendors lining the streets! The Tater Team found a fry stand that used only Idaho® Potatoes for their fries! They even showed the Tater Team and Spuddy Buddy the box of Idaho® Potatoes for proof! There was a constant flow of people enjoying Salem Super Cruise throughout the entire festival! We met so many kind people this weekend and felt so welcomed by everyone!
The car community and Salem locals also came together to raise money for the Columbiana food pantries! We got so many signatures that we filled up two Big Helping signature boards! We donated twice the amount because of the quanity of signatures and the Idaho Potato Commission donated $1000 to the Columbiana County Food Pantries in total! Overall, it was an amazing event with a BIG turnout!
We had a frytastic week in Salem and now were in Chicago, IL! We will be having an event at Angelo Caputo’s Fresh Market on Tuesday from 12-5pm and the Tater Team is so excited! Then we will be heading to Minnesota for a couple event! The Tater Trio is having a blast on the road and we are loving meeting Big Idaho Potato fans at our events! If you’re a Big Idaho Potato fan, make sure to follow our journey on our social media pages FB: @BigIdahoPotatoTour and Insta/Twitter: @bigidahopotato!
Thanks and have a Taterfic day!
