Kentucky here we come!

This past week we traveled over 2000 miles back to Louisville, KY for the rest of the Kentucky Derby Festival. We made stops in Price, UT, Denver, CO, and Kansas City, KS! Our new driver Melissa (the #spudracer) made her debut this week and so far she is doing fantastic! We’ve been showing her the ropes of what it’s like to be a Tater Team member and she is loving it. This is the first time ever that the tour has had an all female team, and so far we’ve had a great reaction from the public. I can’t wait to see what all the #tatertriplets will acheive this year!

After we arrived in Louisville (pronounced by locals as Loo-Vooll) we participated in the festival’s YMCA Healthy Kid’s Day located at Waterfront Park. Kid’s Day is a free event aimed to provide fun activities for children that incorporate exercise! There were obstacle courses, inflatables, games, helicopter rides, and more. For our activity we had horse races! Kids raced on stick horses with Spuddy Buddy and it was such a hit! We are making a fun video for our social media so stay tuned!

At Healthy Kid’s Day we also had a signature board supporting the YMCA of greater Louisville! For every signature we received at the event, we donated $1. We received over 500 signature and were able to donate $500 to the YMCA. A big thank you to the Kentucky Derby Festival for having us again! The Kentucky Derby Festival is one of my favorite events that we go to. It is a two week long festival before the Kentucky Derby and consists of over 70 events! It started in 1956 and raises over $300,000 every year for local charities. We love being a part of the impact and all of the fun the festival has to offer!

Next up, we will be participating in the Pegasus Parade and the tater team will have the chance to go to the Kentucky Derby! We also started a new contest on our social media if you haven’t already seen it called the “#spudselfie contest”. All you have to do is post a photo with our Big Idaho® Potato truck, Spuddy Buddy, or an Idaho® Potato, post it on your page, like and tag our page (@bigidahopotato), and use the hashtag #spudselfie! Easy as that! We will choose weekly winners who will be featured on our page and they will win #bigidahopotato swag including a free t-shirt, hat, spuddy buddy, and more. Then we will choose a grand prize winner at the end of each month who will win a free 20lb. case of Idaho® Potatoes. Can’t wait to see all of the #spudselfies out there!

Until next time potato peeps!
