This week we made a home run to Idaho Falls for the Chukars Baseball game and the “Russet Take Over” game! It’s always so special to go to Eastern Idaho because that is where the majority of Idaho® Potatoes are grown! Potatoes grow so well in Idaho because we have rich volcanic soil with traces of minerals. We also have mountain fed irrigation and the perfect climate to grow quality spuds! We normally aren’t in Idaho during our 6 month tour so it was really exciting to make it home to Idaho for a quick visit! We had so much fun meeting fellow Idahoans and showing off our supersized spud this weekend!
On Friday, the Tater Team set up their table by the Big Idaho Potato Truck just outside of Melaleuca field in Idaho Falls! Before the Chukars game we passed out Idaho potato pins and postcards to fans! We also gave t-shirts and potato swag to fans that liked our social media pages! Additionally, we had a Big Helping Signature Board benefitting the “Community Food Basket.” We had a steady flow of spec-TATERS throughout the night stopping to sign the signature board and see our spud!
The next day was the BIG day because it was the Russet Take Over! The Chukars use to be the Russets from 1940 until 1961! For the “Russet Take Over” the Idaho Potato Commission sponsored the Russets jerseys and we passed out Idaho® Potato Russet T-shirts to the first 1000 fans to come to the game! In addition, Spuddy Buddy and Idaho Potato Commissioner Peggy got to throw the first potato pitch for the game! Travis Blaker and Melissa also had an opening speech at the beginning of the game! During the game, the Tater Team and Spuddy Buddy hyped up the crowd and threw potato prizes to fans in the grandstands! The Russets played very well and took the win! Overall, it was a successful night and Tater Team had a FRYtastic time at the game!
The Team left Idaho this morning and they are staying in Wyoming for a couple days off! They are visiting Yellowstone tomorrow and they are bringing their plush Spuddy Buddy along for the adventure of course! Next stop will be near Milwaukee, WI for the Special Olympics Truck Convoy! We participated in the Truck Convoy last year and we had a blast and we can’t wait to join the convoy again!
Well, that’s all for now! Thank you so much for following our adventure! Until next time!
Tater Twin,
Jessica
