An udder-ly fun time!

Farm Show 2

This last week was udder-ly farm-tastic! We adventured to Butler, Pennsylvania (45 min outside of Pittsburgh) for the 71st annual farm show! Their motto is, “It began with a plow and grew into a family tradition”. Back in 1947, the community decided to host a plowing competition to get the city folks, businessmen, and farmers together to better understand one another. It went over so well, that they decided to form an organization to make the event an annual gathering. Hence, the farm show was born! Now they have tons of activities for the whole family including livestock shows, arts & crafts competitions, auctions, live music, a log pulling contest, bike races, 4-H demonstrations, carnival rides, costume contests, barnyard olympics, and SO much more! It is a week long event that draws in thousands of people, and the spectacular spud visited for three days. We had a great time seeing all of the farm animals, watching the activities, and meeting the kind folks in Butler! We fit right in at the farm show and were definitely a BIG hit. They already want us to come back for next year! Thanks to Ken and everyone at the Butler Farm Show for having us.

The #tatertwins with a calf and her owner!

After Butler, the #tatertriplets had a day off and explored Pittsburgh! Then, it was on to Henry, Illinois for some fun in the sun at Henry Summer Festival! It took place in Central Park and is one of town’s main events. There were 100 vendors there, which was a surprise for their quaint little town! They also had live music, firetrucks that you could tour, and yummy food. Dawn, our event contact, had been trying to get us to come for years. She saw us on her family road trip in South Dakota and requested an appearance soon after. We were so happy that we were able to stop by! We gave out so many Idahoan Mashed Potatoes, sunglasses, and other swag because they were so excited. Spuddy Buddy also made an appearance and said hello to everyone in the park! We love meeting folks in small towns and we met a lot who drove from other towns to come see us. The local newspaper had advertised our stop which brought in a lot of visitors to come see the “Famous Idaho Potato Truck on TV”! The atmosphere was so welcoming and by the end of our time we felt like we were hanging out with old friends. I hope we can return again one day!

Spuddy Buddy with some #tatertots at Henry Summer Festival!

After an awesome visit in Henry, we traveled a few hours up to Milwaukee, WI in search of some cheese and butter…. and for a day off! Next, we will be making an appearance at a summer camp in Oshkosh, WI and at the Danish Festival Parade in Greenville, Michigan. The official end of our national tour is September 21st with the last stop being in Twin Falls, Idaho. It sounds so cliche’, but it’s gone by so fast and I don’t think I’m ready for it to end! We’ve been having blast on the road with our new driver Melissa and it feels like we’ve all known each other for years. I can’t wait to soak up what the rest of the tour has to offer and to keep making a difference and bringing “potato joy” to all of our fans. Click here to see the rest of our tour schedule.

Until next time tater nation!
