The MDI Merchandising show in Hickory, NC was quite a success! It brought together food vendors and buyers so we all find what we want when we walk through our local grocery stores. They hosted seminars and workshops to provide expertise in all areas of grocery store operations. The Big Idaho Potato Truck was parked in front of the Hickory Metro Convention Center for all to see! We even managed to pull in some folks just driving down the freeway who happened to look over and see our giant tater!
The Tater Team had a little time to spare and took off to beautiful Charleston for a quick look down south! I didn’t realize how much history is there. Wow! We took a carriage ride around historic downtown and along the water. Surrounded by immaculate architecture and grand gardens these wonderful old homes all had stories to tell. I ate as much seafood as possible and we even made it to the beach. It was a fast trip but worth it.
Saturday brought us into beautiful Franklin, Tennessee which sits just outside of Nashville, and to the Great Americana BBQ. We were invited by Michael, the TV host of a show called Bama-Q! This contest was off the hook! People actually go to school to become a judge for BBQ! Who knew? I received a glorious education in what good BBQ tastes like. Did you ever have a moment you just wanted to eat everything right now…like, get in my belly right now? Truly delightful people surrounded the spud all day and gave us a chance to share our spud facts. I would love to go back again! Hint. Hint.
Thanks for reading!
